William J. Elko's Obituary
Mr. William J. Elko, age 80, passed away Monday evening, April 18, 2011 following a brief illness. He was born June 1, 1930 to Nicholas and Anna (Bundzylak) Elko in Muskegon Heights, and was a life resident of the Muskegon area. Mr. Elko was a carpenter, working for over 55 years for the Carpenters Union, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a private pilot and loved flying, but most of all he will be remembered as a wonderful father who raised 3 sons by himself.. SURVIVORS include his 3 sons, Nick (Iris) Elko of Muskegon, Terry Elko of Muskegon, Chris (Julie) Elko of Newaygo; 5 grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Art, Alex, Christopher, Katie, and Jacob Elko; 2 great-grandchildren, Dylan and Gavin Art; 1 sister, Julia Datres of Muskegon; 1 sister-in-law, Virginia Elko of Bloomington, MN; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 son, William; his parents; 1 sister, Mary Radakovitz; 1 brother, Mike Elko. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior tothe service. You may sign the family’s on-line guest book at www.sytsemafh.com. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. Elko may be made to Wings of Mercy.
