William Wallace Jope's Obituary
William Wallace Jope, age 68, of Muskegon passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, at a Grand Rapids hospital. He was born October 27, 1942, in Hudson, MA, to Edward Wallace and Dorine (Ledger) Jope. He married the former Patricia Anne Sorensen on September 17, 1976, and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2007.
Mr. Jope was employed by the U.S. Coast Guard Department of Homeland Security as a Chief Petty Officer Radioman until his retirement in 1982. Bill loved the water and boating. He was also a huge New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan, and he had read every Louis L’Amour western book published. Bill was known for his great sense of humor, and he also loved animals, especially dogs.
He is lovingly remembered by three daughters: Michele (Carl Dominic) Canales of Grand Rapids, Cindilee (Dale) LaFountain of New Bedford, MA, and Janis (Patrick) Lofgren of Freetown, MA; a son, Michael (Amy) Jope of Freetown, MA; nine grandchildren: Tara, T.J., Nathan, Tyler, Benjamin, Jacob, Conner, David, and Levi; and numerous adopted grandchildren.
The service for Bill will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2011, at Spring Lake Cemetery with Deacon Bill Charron officiating. Friends may meet the family from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake.
