Wilma Anna Bourdon - Morton's Obituary
Wilma “Wilhelmina” Anna (Schmalzer) Bourdon-Morton, age 96, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 18, 1926, to Anna (Semon) and Fritz Schmalzer. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Nurses Cadet Corps. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1946. She was married to Stanley J. Bourdon in 1947 and they were married 43 years until he passed away in 1990. She remarried to James H. Morton in 1991 in Naples, Florida and they were married 30 years until he passed in 2021. Wilma was passionate about gardening and was a member of the Muskegon County Garden Club, receiving a lifetime award for her membership of many years. She also loved music, dancing, fishing, and entertaining her many friends and family. She and her husband, Jim, belonged to both the Cam and Town Dancing Clubs. She spent winters in Naples, Florida with both Husbands. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Bourdon; stepchildren, Lynne (Roger) Richmond, Mary (Hans) Langschwager, Steve Morton; granddaughter, Meghan (David) Haeck; step-grandchildren, Matthew Langschwager, Lynne (John) Galonek, Frederick Langschwager; and great grandchildren, Cambria Haeck, Joseph Haeck, Jacob Galonek, Joshua Galonek; sisters-in-law, Nancy Schmalzer, MaryJo Moblo; and close friends, Ursel Stanley, Jinny Langlois, Donna Vanderwall, Jim and Judy Kley, and Tony and Claire Chiasson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Stanley J Bourdon, James H. Morton; brother, William Schmalzer; sister-in-law, Virginia Olsen; and brothers-in-law, Harrold Olsen and Robert Moblo. A Celebration of Wilma’s life will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 1:00 PM at The Sanctuary at the Oaks (1740 Village Drive.) Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
