Wilmina "Mina" Dolislager's Obituary
Wilmina “Mina” Dolislager, 88, passed into eternal life on July 10, 2011, after a long period of declining health. Mina was born in Muskegon, MI on October 4, 1922 to Jerry VanDam and Jennie DeHorn VanDam. She married her sweetheart, Gerrit Dolislager, on March 20, 1947. Mina worked as a secretary-bookkeeper from high school until her retirement as office manager for Electric Equipment and Supply. As a lifelong member of the Berean Church, she was active there for many years serving as an officer for the women’s J-O-Y Circle. She also used her considerable organizational skills to chair several Annual Ice Cream Socials at the Christian Care Home.
Mina was preceded in death by her husband, Gerrit, her brothers, Elmer, John and William VanDam, and her sister Anna Dykema. Surviving her are sisters-in-law, Ada Door, Betty May and Gert Yonkers. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She will be especially missed by her nieces Janice Dykema Briggs, Donna Dykema and Diane VanDam Bates, who visited her on a regular basis. Visitation will be held 1PM Friday, July 15, and the service held at 2pm Friday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100) with Pastor Dwight Reed officiating. For a more lasting memorial in Mina’s honor, you are asked to consider Sunshine Ministries at the Berean Church or Grace Adventures.
