Winneva "Neva" VanWynen's Obituary
Mrs. Winneva “Neva” VanWynen, age 91, of Grand Haven passed away into God’s heavenly arms September 2, 2018. She was born September 4, 1926 in Rehoboth, New Mexico to George and Gertrude (Bouma) Oppenhuizen. On October 15, 1946 she married William G. VanWynen at the Calvin Chapel in Grand Rapids. On June 5, 1995 he preceded her in death.
Neva was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Grand Haven, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Mary Martha Guild, Tuesday Bible Study and was a member of the 60 plus club. She was also a member of the hospice lunch bunch. Neva worked at Sanctuary at the Shore for 21 years and Christian Haven Home for 3 years before she retired.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda (Dale) Kruse; grandchildren: William G. (Maria) VanWynen, Jonathan E. (Stacey) VanWynen, Pamela (Andy) DeYoung, and Debra (Sam) Bond; great-grandchildren: Tyler (Shari) Smeenge, Hannah and Lucas VanWynen, Lauren, Grace, and Josie DeYoung, Allison and Jacob Bond, and Biniam and William, Jr. VanWynen; sister, Claire VanderWeide; special niece, Trudy (Rich) Abraham and family; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, Gilbert VanWynen; great-grandson, Robert W. DeYoung; two sisters, Agnes VanderMolen, and Jean Persenaire; four brothers: Willmer, Hessel, Engelus, and Edwin Oppenhuizen.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 7, 2018 at Frist Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Cory Nederveld officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Neva may be given to Christian Reformed World Missions.
