Wolf D. Hussong's Obituary
Family and friends will gather on Sunday, August 1 from 1-4 PM at the Muskegon Yacht Club (MYC) to lovingly remember and celebrate the lives of Wolf (d. April 2020) and Carol (d. January 2020) Hussong. If you have a story or memory to share of Wolf and Carol, the Hussong siblings (along with their spouses and family) invite you to stop by the MYC and reminisce with them. No formal program is planned as the focus is on love and laughter and honoring the full lives their parents lived. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to celebrate Wolf and Carol would be welcomed and appreciated (but not expected) by the family. PJ Hoffmaster State Park Gillette Nature Association, the West Michigan Symphony, the Muskegon Museum of Art , and Life Circles PACE were valued and important organizations in the lives of Wolf and Carol Hussong.
Wolf Dietrich Hussong passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 surrounded by his loving children. Wolf was born on April 20, 1940 in Stuttgart, Germany. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. Wolf began his career as a patternmaker in Germany before adventuring to the United States on an apprenticeship, where he met and married his wife, Carol Hussong. They were married for 53 years, raised their family, and ran a small pattern making business together in Muskegon, Michigan. Wolf lived life by the principles he valued, his love for family and nature. He enjoyed being on the water, whether sailing on the Great Lakes or windsurfing in the Florida Keys. Wolf will be fondly remembered for his love of life’s simple pleasures: working in his garden, tending his bees, walking in Hoffmaster State Park admiring the big trees, collecting “feel good” stones, and enjoying a glass of red wine at the end of each day. Wolf is survived and lovingly mourned by his five children Uta Hussong-Christian (Thomas Hussong-Christian), Meike Hussong Filipof (Peter Filipof), Michael Hussong (Kelley Petersen), Antje Roncagliolo (Renzo Roncagliolo), and Sarah Hussong Johnson (Bradley Johnson); granddaughters Amelia, Eleanore, and Ingrid Johnson; and his brother Reiner Hussong (Barbara Hussong) and sister Gotelind Hussong Jörg (Willy Jörg), both living in Germany. He is preceded in death and now reunited eternally with his wife Carol Hussong, his mother Anna Hussong, and his father Maximilian Hussong. The family's planned memorial will be rescheduled due to health restrictions. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org), LifeCircles PACE of Muskegon (https://lifecircles-pace.org/), or Harbor Hospice (https://harborhospicemi.org). Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Please share a memory with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
