Woodrow D. Cox's Obituary
Mr. Woodrow D. Cox, age 89, passed away Friday, April 13, 2007 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born November 4, 1917 in Stambaugh, MI to Joseph and Thyra (Franzene) Cox. Mr. Cox was a graduate of Iron River High School. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Medical Corp. with the 103rd General Hospital. Mr. Cox was a truck driver for many years and had also worked for Fruitport Community Schools for 9 years before retiring in 1982. He attended Forest Park Covenant Church. Mr. Cox enjoyed bowling, fishing in Minnesota, Canada, and Muskegon County, and walking “Riley” the dog. On May 15, 1944 he married the former Lucille "Lou" Ayers in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Judy (James) Kidd, Janis Pothoff both of Muskegon; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Gaunt, Jennifer (Chris) Hare; great-grandson, Ethan Hare; sister, June Schultz; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and a son-in-law, Richard Pothoff. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Forest Park Covenant Church with Rev. Russ Carlson officiating. VISITING with the family will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
