Zachary Richard Kinstner's Obituary
It is with broken hearts that the Kinstner family shares the news of the death of Zachary Richard Kinstner, born August 27, 1985. On December 31, 2025, Zach took his own life after battling with schizophrenia for several years. He was the founder and owner of Aesthetic Interactive, where he developed a range of software, including some on the cutting edge of AR and VR.
Zachary was the firstborn son of Richard and Susan Kinstner, and the brother of Lance and Morgan Kinstner. As he grew, Zach became a friend, an artist, a musician, and an intellectual. He played piano and guitar, drew and painted, sang and wrote poetry, and had a passion for physics, computers, and philosophy. These things not only got him into college at Grand Valley, but they captured the heart of Melissa McDonald, who he met there freshman year. Melissa immediately and irrevocably became part of the Kinstner family, and the two of them brought into the world, and into our hearts, two of the most incredible humans: their daughters Elliot (15) and Penelope (13). These girls were so loved by their father, who was their own personal crooner and photographer. Zach was as proud a dad as he could be.
Visitation will be held at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St. Muskegon, MI. 49444 from 1:00pm - 2:30pm on Friday, January 9, 2026. The family’s remarks will be from 2:30pm - 3:00pm.
We hope to see many of you there to remember the Zach we all knew and loved. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider mailing a donation in memory of Zach to Network 180, 790 Fuller Ave. NE. Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
