Albert "Al" Schneider's Obituary
Mr. Albert J. Schneider, age 89, of Norton Shores, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015. He was born January 26, 1926, in Plymouth, WI, to John Winkle and Olivé Schneider. Al began service to his country as a U.S. Marine in WWII, Pacific Theater. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, where he began a career in weather/climatology that extended over 30 years. Upon retirement, Al turned his attention to writing, focusing on political and social commentary, short stories, and vignettes. His work has appeared in various publications, and he was a regular contributor to the Senior Perspectives and the Fruitport Area News. On January 5, 1952, Al married Helen Dunn, of Springfield, OH, who preceded him in death on March 15, 2002. Al is survived by one daughter, Gloria Jasperse, of Grand Haven, a special friend, Joan Gawron, of Muskegon, and many other family members and friends. Funeral Services for Al will take place at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 31, 2015, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven, with the Rev. Robert Shackles officiating. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Friday, January 30, at the Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Lakeshore Cemetery.
