Albertus "Al" Verschragen's Obituary
Mr. Albert Verschragen , age 85 died peacefully Friday Sept. 3, 2010. He was born March 25, 1925, in Toeloeng Agoeng to Gerardos & Hendrika Verschragen. Al was a WW II veteran retiring from the Dutch Navel Air Corp in 1957 after 17 years of service. He came to Muskegon with his family in 1957 from The Netherlands. He married Adriana Pechler on June 6, 1948. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2003 after 55 years of marriage. Al worked as service tech and installer for Sears for 14 years before going to work for the Mona Shores Schools System. He retired in 1986 as the Maintenance and Custodial Supervisor. He is survived by 4 children; Patricia Cooke of Santee, Ca. Albert Verschragen Jr. of Montague, Jerry Verschragen of Muskegon, and June/AJ (Larry) James of Muskegon, several grandchildren including Casey James. He loved to watch “his girls” play their sports. He will be missed. There will be no service or visitation. There will be a luncheon in his memory at Apple Carr Village Club House, 516 Courtland Lane on Sunday, September 12, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
