Alex R. Picard's Obituary
Alex R. Picard, 82, of Muskegon, Michigan died at his home in Ashville, AL as were his wishes on May 2nd, 2024 with his wife close by.
He was born in Muskegon, MI in 1941 to Robert “Bob” and Jeannie Picard. He graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1959 and joined the Army in 1961. Later in life he graduated from Faulkner College with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and graduated from Phoenix University with a Master’s Degree in Business.
Alex met the love of his life, Roxanne Elaine Bathe in 1963. It was love at first sight and the two were married on June 27, 1964, in Muskegon, Michigan.
Alex and Roxanne were eager to start a family of their own and they were blessed with three children, Yvette Marie, Robert Alan, and Melisa Amber.
Though he loved his children very much, his favorite role in life was as a grandpa and a great-grandpa. He left behind 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren all of whom adored him immensely. He was always quick to travel to any and all events the “Grands” invited him to and he spoiled them all. He taught them about life, being good humans, the value of hard work, being a productive member of society, and always told them to learn to do things for themselves or they would never have anything in this life, satisfaction of a job well done and he loved to giggle and cause trouble with them and drive grandma crazy.
Alex had a soft spot for his furry family members, he treated each and every one of them like the valuable family member they were.
Alex had several friends who had been friends for many, many years and meant the world to him and Roxanne. They shared many happy and sad times together and they stuck together through it all.
Alex was very passionate about his career. He started his career with Hilti Fasteners and worked for them for 17 years and then moved to Greenlee Textron Inc. in 1992 and retired in 2012 at the age of 71.
Alex won multiple awards and trips and was on the Presidential Sales-List multiple times. He was very proud of his accomplishments.
Alex will always be remembered for the lessons he taught us; do not steal anything from anyone, do not lie, and no one gives you anything in this life for free you have to work hard and earn it. Alex could be ornery, stubborn, and hard-headed at times and if you ever had a conversation with him you knew he never sugar-coated his words but said exactly what he wanted to say and he said if it hurt your feelings then that meant it hit a nerve and that was up to you to fix. We could not have asked for a better husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend and we will miss him every single day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” and Jeannie Picard, a brother in love, Phillip Smith, brother in love, John Rumer, a sister in love, Judy Tucker, a brother in love, Bryle Tucker, and his fur babies, Pooh, Libby, and Boca. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Picard, his children, Yvette Marie Roberson (Larry), Robert Alan Picard, and Melisa Amber Smith (Bubba), his grandchildren, James Erwin (Jessica), Janie Richards (Jamie), Megan Sawicki (Adam), Christine Kessler (Steven), Jacob Roberson (Carmen), Shawnee Picard, Cheyenne Picard, Dylan Stitch, Raven Picard, Kaitlyn Smith, Bethaney Gallagher (Timothy), Casidie Gallagher (Brandon), Baileigh Smith, Kyndal Smith, Briley Smith, Cooper Smith, Blakely Smith, Caraleigh Smith, Brantley Smith, and Caleb Smith, his great-grandchildren, Cadence, Jacelynn, Bristol, Chanson, Emma, Parker, Aria, Ally, Jasmine, Jett, Serenity, Loyalty, Hayes, Waylon, Charles, Korie, Robyn, Greyson, Cameron, and Kinsleigh, his trusted companions “Leroy” Brown, Sammie, Chantilly and Buttercup “Butters”, and his siblings, Jeanne Smith, Wink O’Brien (Tom), Peggy Rumer, Mary Novak (Rick), and Shelly Mast, and siblings in love, Linda Bowman(Bob), Kerry Bathe (Patty), Barbara Lugten, Karla Johnson (Al), and Carolae Rusin (Walt).
