Mrs. Alice M. Maycroft's Obituary
Mrs. Alice M. (Thornberg) Maycroft, 86, passed away late Saturday evening, October 4, 2014. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene, and sister, Viola Wathen, and left rejoicing of a Heavenly reunion. Born August 12, 1928 to Gerard and Ada (Klug) Thornberg, she was the second of four girls: Viola, Alice, Donna (Al) Paluch and Marlene Jannenga. She married Gene on September 6, 1946, and the love affair continued for 65 years and beyond. Together they started the foundation of family with five children: Eugene (Jerry) Maycroft, Randal (Leslie) Maycroft , Debra (Tom) Bolthouse , Nanette (Dave) Gonzales, and Kathy (Dan) Kammeraad; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Together they founded the Maycroft Square Tappers, which she also considered family, as the limits of her love were boundless. Together Gene and Alice traveled the world as Friendship Ambassadors. Alice was a school teacher at Trinity West Shore Lutheran and continued on the board of education well past retirement. She was the Superintendent of Sunday School, and president of the Parent-Teacher Association, always taking charge and channeling God’s love. VISITATION will be 5-8 P.M. Friday, October 10, 2014 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, phone 231-798-1100. SERVICES will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3225 Roosevelt Rd. A private family burial service will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
