I'll always remember aunt Alice and our visits either in Madison, at the Drake St. residence or when we would visit her and uncle Ken in Voyager Village in N. Wisconsin. One of my fond memories of sister Alice was of a time when I was young. Alice was in nursing training in Eau Claire, Wis. and was home for a weekend. Brothers Ole and Pete had dynamited a deeper hole in the Red Cedar River below our farm and put up a diving board. Of course it was too deep for a non swimmer. Alice was a good swimmer and took me into the water to teach me to swim. I remember hanging onto her big toe as she pulled me along. I know I wasn't frightend at all I had such confidence in her. Wow! What a great way to partcipate in a celebration of life and the wonderful memories we all have of such a loving and loved relative / friend. Aunt Alice... my strongest memory would be from the summmer of 1971 or 1972, too long ago to be sure. It was the summer Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young released their live album, "4 way Street". I remember staying with her in Minneapolis/St. Paul for about three or four days. I bought that ablum while I was staying there. She allowed me to use their stero and play the album (WAY UP LOUD), Ken wasn't home. She listened along and had some gracious comments. I thought she was way cool for an "older person". I think I was 15 at the time. I've thought about that long weekend often over the years. I'll miss her.##imported-begin##Darrell A. Rude##imported-end##
I didn't get to know Alice very well. My boyfriend and I lived next to her in our apartment on Clovernook for a couple of months before she moved. The first time that I met her she brought over a thermos full of homemade hot chocolate as a neighboring warm welcome. We did go over and chat with her a few times. I am a medical assistant and she would tell me how she just loved being a nurse and how she missed it. I am glad that I got to meet Alice, and I hope one day that I live a long and healthy life as she did. Our deepest sympathies go out to her and her family.##imported-begin##Casondra##imported-end##
My first (and one of very few) memories of seeing a firefly was at Alice and Ken's house in Wisconsin. I was very excited and Alice put it in a jar for me to look at. I still love fireflies. She has touched many people and I am included. I am lucky to have known her in my life.

Dear sister Alice was definitly the prayer warrior of our family,her care for us will be a great loss. She came to Roswell, New Mexico to be with me when Jere was born. A special time I will always remember. She told me that when I was born she had been praying for a little sister as she already had two brothers. My Great Aunt Alice and I had many phone conversations. She called me one time to tell me her earliest memory and to write in down. Written in my phone book I have..."I remember lying in my Father's arms while he rocked me singing 'What a friend in Jesus." Every time we talked to she was always a ray of sunlight in my day. My aunt Alice was the spiritual matriarch of the family; I know she included every one of us in her daily prayers. When I was very young she introduced me to Sherlock Holmes (I still have the books she gave me), thereby nourishing a love of reading in a child.
