Alida Dianne Smith's Obituary
Alida Dianne Smith, age 59, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a long illness, Tuesday morning, April 5, 2016. She was born April 16, 1956 at home in rural Norton Twp., Muskegon County, to Bernard and Evelyn (Pyatt) Smith. Alida was a graduate of Mona Shores High School, Class of 1974, and attended Muskegon School of Business and graduated from Aquinas College. She married and they moved to Lisbon, Portugal and later Manilla, Philippines before flying completely around the world. After returning to Detroit, they lived in northern Minnesota. Alida enjoyed being creative; knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She was also a talented writer and musician; playing the piano and the flute. Alida also enjoyed reading and cycling. SURVIVORS include her mother, Evelyn; sister, Gloria; nephew, Jason; and three cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Alida will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Family Bible Church (1256 W. Broadway) with Rev. Jerry DePoy officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM Saturday. Burial will take place in Norton Cemetery.
