Alma B. Fox's Obituary
Mrs. Alma B. Fox, age 96, of Muskegon passed away Friday, June 18, 2021. She was born March 11, 1925, in Muskegon to Albert and Augusta (Burmeister) Hendrickson. On January 5, 1943, she married Larry Fox and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2006.
Alma was a member of Calvary Memorial Church. In 1977 she was named volunteer of the year for the American Red Cross after serving decades with the Blood donation services. Her favorite Red Cross activity was encouraging students on their first blood donation.
Alma and Larry loved Square dancing and traveled with square dancing friends to many locations. They also were avid motorcyclists and spent many years and many miles, including a trip up to Pike's Peak, on their Honda Goldwing. They also loved camping with their children and with friends, especially on their property on the white River. The River Rats, as they were known, spent many seasons canoeing, camping, and enjoying a good campfire.
During their retirement years, they wintered in Central Florida enjoying the company of their retired siblings and making many new friends at the Southern Palms Park. Alma directed the water exercise classes and was active in their Florida church. After returning to Michigan, she lived at The Oaks, a senior community. She often was an Oaks Ambassador - facilitating the exercise classes, calling Bingo twice a week, and greeting new residents. She loved playing cards, Dominoes, Sticks and Cribbage at the Oaks.
In her younger years Alma was a member of the Girls' Club, meeting for cards or lunch. She also belonged to the Couples' Club with Larry.
Alma often boasted about her children. She was proud of their successes and how much they loved each other. She had set an excellent example for them of how to live. She laughed a lot, loved deeply and valued her friends. More than anything, Alma loved her Lord Jesus and looked forward to her final home with Him.
She is survived by five children: Janice Froelich of California, Jackie (Bruce) McClain of Norton Shores, Lois (Jerry) Klinger of Muskegon,, Jim (Laura) Fox of Spring Lake, and Larry Jr. (Joan) Fox of Muskegon; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; brother, Henry (Audrey) Hendrickson.
