Anna Mae Dekker's Obituary
Mrs. Anna Mae Dekker, age 91, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Spring Lake, MI. She was born in Chicago, IL on April 27, 1924 to Lambert and Pearl (Meyer) Hager. On May 28, 1948, Mae married Wilbur “Bill” Dekker. As a young couple, they moved to Bahrain where they served as missionaries with the Reformed Church in America for 18 years. They returned to the Chicago area, settling in Homewood, IL. Mae worked in accounting for 16 years at Richard D. Irwin/McGraw Hill before her retirement. She was a member of Second Reformed Church of Grand Haven and had a gift for leading Bible studies and mentoring people. Mae enjoyed camping, fishing and reading. She is survived by her children, Melita (Norman) Swier of Montague, Ted Dekker of Grand Rapids, and Deborah (Fernando) Gonzalez of Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur “Bill” Dekker; four sisters; and one brother. Her MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 13, 2016 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. John Koedyker officiating.
