Dear Family, We are members of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes, and met Ardean through Peter and Judy Theune, who would bring Ardean to our Faith Links Sunday school class on Sunday mornings. My husband, Bob, and I, would also bring Ardean to church occasionally, and enjoyed visiting with her in her apartment. My mother was also at Grand Pines, so I visited Ardean there, also. We loved Ardean's comments so much in Sunday School, and also had many conversations about Christ Community Church, which my mother used to attend. We think of Ardean often, miss her voice (and opinions!), and smile. We hope you find comfort in this Easter season.

I knew Ardean from working with her many many years at NOCH REHAB. She was caring, dedicated, committed, loyal,and loved coming to work while providing exceptional patient care.She was part of the founding team and set the benchmark for those qualities we looked for as new team members were added. She always spoke of her children and grandchildren. I buy musto apples every fall As it was a her who spoke so highly of them and she was right. I think her and Joe would share an apple and popcorn for evening snack. We played a few rounds of golf togeher after work. Can't remember what year she retired, but I worked with her from 1982 until she retired. I will never forget her.

My mother (Nona) and myself worked at Hettinga's back in the early 60's for years. Joe and Ardean were always there for our family Ardean was such a great mother to Dave, Paul and Cindy. She would come over to our house and bake cookies with my mother at Christmas, filling up a turkey roaster pan full of the best cookies in town. May God bless her and her family members knowing. I hope they all know that Ardean touched so many peoples lives in Grand Haven. Now she is in heaven with the Lord, and reunited with Joe. May she rest in peace.

One of my earliest memories in life was a visit (the first of many I would enjoy to the Hettinga's Produce Store on Washington, across from M&M's Five & Dime Store (now the Morningstar Cafe). Ardean was always busy, but always had time for a quick smile and friendly greeting. I never would have guessed that 40 years later, Ardean and Joe would welcome us back to Grand Haven when we arrived from Texas on a cold snowy night to be greeted by a pot of her wonderful chili. Within a year this engergetic, vivacious woman had volunteered to come to our home to love on our 3 children; which she diid famously well. Always whipping up one of her amazing recipes for our dinner before she left. And often regalling us with wonderful stories of her early life as the daughter of a local fisherman living on the channel near the State Park.

Ardean's positive attitude was infectious, and only the passing of her beloved Joe took the wind out of her sails, though her fierce independence became evident as she continued to motor around town in her old Buick until her vision failed.

To her children - Lee and Paul we knew somewhat - know that your mother touched our lives in a meaningful way, and that we cherish the many memories we have of your remarkable mother! And I have no doubt that she is enjoying her new heavenly body, with so many to visit with!!

Paul and Joanna,

I am sitting in Debra's dining room at her jail in Rockville reading my email while she crochets. Not that this is tremendously important but the setting had a powerful impact on me when I read about Paul's mother passing. This past year has heightened my senses and my feelings about life and priorities. "Every day is a gift" and "always be yourself" are words so many people say and hear but so few people take the time to understand and embrace. I have been blessed in so many ways in my life and while I have always tried to be aware and thankful for what I have I'm not so sure I was "all that I could be" if you know what I mean. Nancy was a gift to me for almost 30 years. The greatest gift I can give back to those I love, and even those I don't, is to live, every day, those "Adrean quotes".

I hope with all my heart that whenever my time is up that my children, my friends, my family, and everyone who knew me takes a few days to mourn my passing and then, for the rest of their lives, celebrates my life by treating each day as a gift - a gift of happiness, of growth, of love, all a bit richer and better because of my part in their lives.

Thank you for including me in this news so I can mourn with you briefly but more importantly so I can be a part of the changes in this world because of her life.

I have many fond memories of your Mom. We served together on the board of Christian Women's Club many years ago. She was a beautiful Christian woman and I loved her sense of humor. I'm sure she and my Mom hugged each other on her arrival into Heaven! I know she will be missed by many. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
