Ardean W. Hettinga's Obituary
Ardean W. Hettinga, age 92, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence. She was born September 13, 1922, in Grand Haven to Andrew and Gertrude (Van Bogelan) Fisher, and she married Joseph Hettinga on July 4, 1941, in New Orleans. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2004.
Ardean was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven. She worked with her husband in their store Hettinga’s Produce, and also at North Ottawa Community Hospital in the physical therapy department as an assistant. Ardean was an active member of Christ Community Church where she sang in the choir, and was a member of Young Life with her husband Joseph. She also loved to golf and was a member of Spring Lake Country Club.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cindy “Lee” (Gary Ravitz) Hettinga of Chicago; two sons, David (Elaine) Hettinga of New Buffalo and Paul (Joanna) Hettinga of Chicago; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-granchildren; her brother Pete (Nancy) Fisher of North Hills, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Winifred Chittenden.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Hospice of North Ottawa Community (supportnochs.org/hospice) are appreciated. Share memories with the family at their online guest book at www.vbkfuneralhome.com.
