Danielle Hart - Hoggard
I grew up knowing Arlene as my "Grandma Hart." As a child, I remember spending a lot of time with my Grandpa and Grandma Hart. What I remember most of my time spent at my grandparent's home was how the environment felt safe and secure. I was loved and cared for, and our time spent together was meaningful throughout my childhood years. When I reflect on our time spent together, the memories that come to mind are the following: decorating my bedroom, weekend sleep-overs with my best friend Karen joining me, watching the Barbara Mandrell and Sisters Show, looking/reading through the Sears Christmas catalog, shopping locally in Alpena, eating out at our favorite restaurant (Big Boy), swinging on my wooden swing in the backyard, visiting grandma's classroom at Thunder Bay Junior High, and going to garage sales. However, my fondness memories are my birthday parties and homemade birthday cakes that grandma prepared especially for me, as well as, the Christmas celebrations that were made magical for the grandchildren. Those magical feelings of Christmas were the best Christmas celebrations I had during my childhood years. The magic was created by the decorated Christmas tree, the handmade Christmas decorations, the homemade food and desserts, and most of all, the family coming together and traveling to Alpena to celebrate Christmas. I hold too many memories to convey within one message to honor Grandma Hart. It is important to note that Grandma Hart was there for me in a time in my life that I needed her the most. She took the time to visit with me and would always call me on the phone to check-in. I will cherish the memories and hold them close to my heart.
