Arthur E. Payne's Obituary
Mr. Arthur E. Payne, age 85, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008. He was born April 24, 1922 in Muskegon to Charles and Rose Marie (Pierce) Payne. Mr. Payne was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked for Wolverine Express and other various trucking companies before retiring in 1979. After retirement, he opened his own mower repair service, and also worked part-time for Meijer. Mr. Payne was a member of First Wesleyan Church, and also enjoyed bowling and golf. On April 21, 1948, he married the former Pauline Leckrone in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2003. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Sheila (Gerald) Tjapkes, Bradley (Janet) Payne both of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Tracy (Ken) Huston, Amy and Carey Tjapkes, Christopher and Jennifer Payne; 3 great-children, Kharey, Sarah, and Jacob Huston; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Gustafson. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Payne and Thomas Mayne; 2 sisters, Genevieve Frick, and Margaret Gustafson. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Richard K. Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.
