Mrs. Audrey R. Burgess, age 79, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013. She was born on January 29, 1934 in Muskegon to Bert and Gertrude (Medendorp) Hoeksema, and resided in the area all of her life. She was a charter member of Hop Read Obituary

Dear Carla, Jon, and Kris,
I will always remember my Aunt Audrey as a selfless and caring person. She always tried to live by her Christian ideals. She had a great sense of humor too. She was also very proud of her talented children. She was a good friend to my mom. I know she is happy to be reunited with Uncle Carl and other loved ones now in the presence of Our Lord.

Dear Burgess Family and Friends,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one. Please accept my sincere condolences. I too have lost several loved ones in death, and the pain is tremendous, even with the passage of time. Thankfully, I have found relief in knowing that "The Most High God" is the “Hearer of Prayer”, and a source of tremendous comfort in times of grief and distress according to Psalms 83:18,and Psalms 65:2. Please be assured , death will soon be “swallowed up forever” and we will have the opportunity to see our dead loved ones again, as promised at John 5:28.29 and Isaiah 25:8. My family and I wish you and yours peace.

We have so many wonderful memories of your dear mom and always enjoyed having your family as next-door neighbors. She was always such a giving and caring person with a great sense of humor. She was also a wonderful friend to my mom for many, many years. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Carla, Jon and Kris and your families. I have so many wonderful memories as a child spending with Aunt Audrey and Uncle Carl. We spent so much time at your house during our summers in Muskegon. Audrey was a lovely lady, strong with a wonderful sense of humor. Such a Christian! She worked so hard putting on lunches for funerals and church receptions. Still remember her potato salad and delicious mint bars. You children were raised with such Christian values - and grew up to reflect your parent's love. She will be missed. Lyle & Bev Wierenga
