Audrey R. Burgess' Obituary
Mrs. Audrey R. Burgess, age 79, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013. She was born on January 29, 1934 in Muskegon to Bert and Gertrude (Medendorp) Hoeksema, and resided in the area all of her life. She was a charter member of Hope Reformed Church, where she was involved in various organizations. Audrey also volunteered at Western Michigan Christian High School for many years. On July 11, 1959 she married Carl Burgess, and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2003. Audrey loved her family very much, and her survivors include 3 children, Carla (Bob) Beukema of Zeeland, Jon (Pat) Burgess of Hudsonville, and Kristin Burgess of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Nathan (Abby Schartner), Joel, and Matthew Beukema, Sara and Katie Burgess; and one great granddaughter, Nora; sister, Delores (Pete) Bishop of Muskegon; and two brothers, Marvin Hoeksema of Muskegon, and Dr. Ronald Hoeksema of Grand Rapids. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Hoeksema and Evelyn Buthker, and brothers, Jay Hoeksema and Rev. John Hoeksema. A Memorial Service will be 11AM Friday at Hope Reformed Church with Rev. Steven Hyma officiating. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION with Audrey’s family will be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM. Memorial Contributions in Audrey’s name to Hope Reformed Church, West Michigan Christian High School or Muskegon Christian School will be appreciated.
