Bernard P. "Bernie" Paseka, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Bernard P. “Bernie” Paseka, Sr., age 90, passed away Sunday morning, January 2, 2011 in Grand Rapids. He was born December 15, 1920 in Muskegon to Joseph and Mary (Turnbloom) Paseka. Mr. Paseka was a U.S. Army Veteran serving as a Demolition Specialist during WWII. He owned and operated Bernie’s Transmission for over 50 years before retiring in 2006. Mr. Paseka was known in the automotive repair industry as “The Transmission King”. He also was an avid fisherman and loved to dance. On August 4, 1962 he married the former Patricia M. Hughes in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2002. SURVIVORS include 6 children, Bruce Swirsky, Lorraine (Dennis) Burns, Bernard P. (Barb) Paseka, II, Mark (Traci) Paseka, Lisa (Terry) Paseka, Lynn (Mark) Johnson; 17 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter. He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Fr. Antony Britto presiding. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday morning.
