Bethany Burns' Obituary
Mrs. Bethany Burns, age 33, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bad Axe, Michigan on July 27, 1991, to Douglas and Susan (Meeghan) Grates. On June 19, 2021, she married Corey Burns at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake.
Bethany was a graduate of Caseville High School, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, doting over her nieces and nephews, watching sports, especially Michigan Football…Go Blue! Bethany worked as a school psychologist for Whitehall Schools.
Bethany is survived by her husband, Corey; parents, Doug and Susan Grates, mother in law, Patricia Burns; siblings: Mary Rose (Patrick) Jacobi, Hannah (Jack) Zaskiewicz, Nathan (Fenia) Grates, David (Whitney) Grates, Timothy Grates, and Olivia (Cody Simmons) Grates; brother and sisters-in-law: Keely Burns, Ryan (Jessica) Burns, Nathan (Marianna) Burns, Tim (Nicole) Burns; nieces and nephews: Ella, Parker, Marley, Penelope, Leonidas, Kyra, Liam, Ava, Sloan, Willa, and Chloe; and her beloved dog, Mr. Kovack. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Joseph Burns and her grandparents.
Our thanks go out to all her family and friends, her hospice team, her colleagues and the children in Whitehall and her friend, Maddie Dooley who supported her through her illness.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions in memory of Bethany maybe given to the American Brain Tumor Association, or the Bethany Burns Memorial Scholarship.
