Betty E. Ackerberg's Obituary
Mrs. Betty E. Ackerberg, age 85, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. She was born on December 19, 1931 in Muskegon to Bruce and Mable (Speed) McMillan, and resided in the area all her life. Betty graduated from Muskegon High School in 1949, and continued her education at Muskegon Community College. She worked as an Attendant Nurse for over 20 years at the Regional Center in Muskegon for the State of Michigan. Betty was an advocate and champion for children in her job and everyday life. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking and was known for her delicious pies. Above all, she was a beloved mother and grandmother who would do anything for her family. On November 11, 1950, she married Donald C. Ackerberg, and he preceded her in death on September 30, 2016. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Richard (Kathy) Ackerberg of Atlanta, MI, Donald (Debra) Ackerberg, Jr. of Muskegon, Sheila Cornfield of E. Lansing, and Bonnie (Randy) Smith also of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. Betty was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Timothy Cornfield.
