Betty Barrett's Obituary
Betty Louise Barrett, age 82, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at a Muskegon hospital. She was born February 14, 1924, to Carl and Bessie (Jacobs) Conklin in Charlotte, Michigan. The former Betty Louise Conklin was married to Raymond S. Barrett on February 14, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1997.
Betty graduated from Godwin Heights High School and moved to the Tri-Cities area from Grand Rapids in 1961. She was employed as a school bus driver for Spring Lake Public Schools and was a member of Grand Haven Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, shooting pool, playing Bingo, and fishing. She was also a member of the Campfire Girls. Betty loved spending time with her family and going to the casino.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Norene (Rudy) Hendricks of Grand Haven and Lynda (Dennis) Kooiman of Spring Lake; 3 sons, Michael A. (Ginger) Barrett of Grand Haven, Stephan (Sandra) Barrett of Fayetteville, NC, and Larry Barrett of Nunica; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers: Robert, Kenneth, Carroll, and James Conklin.
The service for Betty will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with evangelist Keith Owens officiating. Friends may meet the family 6-9 p.m. Friday, November 10, at the funeral home. Memorials to Grand Haven Church of Christ or the North Ottawa County Council on Aging are appreciated.
