Betty Arlene Fles' Obituary
Betty Arlene Fles, age 82, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2005 in Muskegon. She was born on February 23, 1923 to William and Elizabeth (Outman) Reid and was a life-long resident of Muskegon. Betty was a 1941 graduate of Muskegon Heights High School and was a former member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. After her retirement in 1988 from Grand Rapids Supply, Betty enjoyed among other things playing the piano, bowling, gardening and her pet cat, Seth. On April 12, 1949 she married Charles B. Fles and he preceded her in death on November 24, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Charles (Deborah) Fles of Muskegon, Barbara (Douglas) Eikenburg of Houston, TX, Patricia (Thomas) Dunning of Muskegon, Sandra (Jack, Jr.) Miles of Fremont and David Fles of North Muskegon; 13 grandchildren, Douglas and Robert Cowles, Forrest and Lindsey Eikenburg, Christopher, Jennifer and Timothy Dunning, Jack (Danielle) Miles III, Kimberly (Robert) Peoples, Bobbi Jo, Elizabeth, Samantha and Jillian Fles; 4 great-grandchildren, Destanie and Adam Miles, Ryan Peoples and Xaundra Rosales. SERVICES will be 1 PM Wednesday at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, 1568 Giles Road, with the Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Township Cemetery. VISITATION with Betty’s family will be 3-5 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442,231-726-5210. In lieu of flowers, for those desiring an expression of sympathy, please consider the Noah Project or the Building Fund of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. Betty’s family desires to thank Nancy Brenneman, M.D., for the outstanding care and continued support she has given to “Aunt Betty” and her family.
