Dear Florence, Blaney, London, and girls,
Kaila, Steve, and I send our sincere sympathy for your loss and our prayers for peace to surround you. Blane was Kaila's "Big Daddy" and we are forever grateful for the love he gave to Kaila before God gave her to Steve and I.
I will never forget the case of the giggles I got the first time I met him....Kaila spoke with so much love of her "Big Daddy" and the picture I had in my mind of a BIG daddy did not match up to the man standing before me that evening!!! But, the hope and love he gave to Kaila did indeed make him a "Big Daddy". Every good and precious memory she has of her time before coming home to us was at the hands of grandma and grandpa Mattfolk, Aunt London, and her Big Daddy.
So here's to you, Big Daddy! May you finally be at peace. Thank you for giving our little girl reason to have faith that her forever parents would adore her.
Ann, Steve, and Kaila Churchley
Uncle Blane you were a fun guy to be around. Ill always remember going fishing with you and grandpa and how you'd take me and blaney to get yoowhoo milk drinks. those were pretty good. Every time I see little kids playing football, a Dominos Pizza, black Mustangs, or a drum set I think of Blane. I can't imagine a time when I won't think of him when I see those things. We met playing football on the Red Devils dynamite team and remained friends through the talent shows (anyone remember the Alone Again performance without a singer?) the pizzas, and countless transmission replacements in both of his mustangs. I think I spent more time underneath those cars than he spent in them. Why he couldn't figure out speed shifting I'll never know.
I'll also never forget the drive to see his Mustang GT for the first time. He had just totalled the SVO and found the GT over toward Detroit. The owner agreed to meet us half way so Blane borrowed Jeff Jacob's wife's car. It had a Madonna cassette stuck in the player so all we could listen to was that cassette for 4 hours of driving (highways were 55 back then). I can't claim to like Madonna music, but every time I hear "Lucky Star" I laugh out loud.
Dear Florence and family, Please accept our deepest sympathy for your loss.
We did not know Blane well, but when we did see him he was always so friendly and smiling. Hold fast to your memories of him. Love, Aunt Phyl & Uncle Carl
