Mr. Carl L. Clanton's Obituary
Mr. Carl L. Clanton, 78, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 4, 2015. Born September 22, 1936 to Charles and Beulah (Byas) Clanton, he was a life resident of Muskegon. Mr. Clanton served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and returned to Muskegon where he worked at Muskegon Piston Ring and Goodwill Industries until retiring in 1998. He was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church where he was a part of Men’s Brotherhood, Bible studies, and the Men’s Chorus. Carl married the former Mildred Underwood on May 4, 1968 in Muskegon, and she survives him along with his children: Dexter (Amy) Clanton, Donata (Raymond) Kidd, and Leonard Gray all of Muskegon; grandchildren: Latia (Jordan) Willis, Micah (Summer), Eric, India, Julian and Jalen Clanton; and two great-grandchildren: Jordan Jr. and Jhalil Willis. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Charles Clanton Jr. and Floyd Clanton; a sister, Marva Jane Smith; and his stepfather, Charles Moore. Carl was a man who loved the Lord, his family, life, and his fellowman. The Funeral Service for Mr. Clanton will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 10, 2015 at New Hope Baptist Church, 560 Yuba St., with Pastor D.W. Tolbert officiating, and interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Thursday, July 9, 2015 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210.
