Carl Jalovec's Obituary
Mr. Carl Jalovec, age 98, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. Mr. Jalovec was born March 21, 1915 to Martin and Emma (Renko) Jalovec in Sumter County, Minnesota. On November 30, 1933 he married the former Genevieve M. Somers in Muskegon. Carl was employed as a foreman at CWC for 20 years and then as a layout person at Steel Fabricating, retiring in 1980. He and Genevieve were founding members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Carl liked bowling, hunting and fishing; catching over 5000 fish at Clear Lake and keeping track of every one he caught. Along with his beloved wife of almost 80 years, Genevieve, Carl is SURVIVED by his children, Carl R. Jalovec of Muskegon and Shirley (Tony) Brooks of Fishers, IN; Charles (Chris) Jalovec of Williamsburg, VA and Valerie (Craig) Westedt of Cookson, OK; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth “Kelly” Jalovec; and sister, Esther Wells. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 3252 Apple Ave. with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. Interment will be in Egelston Township Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel n737 Apple Avenue 231 726-5210 Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
