Susie Norton Lanoue
There are so many memories I have of Carl(Herbie). My brother and Herbie were best friends since third grade. So really I had two brothers growing up. Night after night ice skating with those two, sleding, roller skating at Temple Methodist every Friday night and going to Bronsons Farm to the beach and so much more. Those two guys always (well, not always) let me tag along. When I was in high school Herbie would come over after school and pester and tease me while I was trying to watch my soap opera . Dan was still in Vietnam and that was my senior year. On graduation day Herbie knew Dan couldn't be there and showed up at our door with a bouquet of a dozen roses saying congratulations. So sweet. What a guy. I remember a time when my Mom was very ill and Herbie would come over and kneel down beside the couch and talk so sweet to her. He would say, " you need to get better Mrs Norton." This is so precious because for a long time it was hard to get him to come into the house . I would beg him . My Mom would come to the door and say you get in here. He would laugh that laugh of his. She finially convinced him. There was no stopping him after that!! He would follow me out to the kitchen and around the house . He teased me endlessly about shoving everything under my bed. So when he was there kneeling beside Ma on the couch it was pretty amazing. Then I think I was 14 and remember when we lived on 7th st every night he would drive by and honk his horn. I would open the curtain and wave and he waved back. I could go on and on. It's so nice to look back and have all good memories of someone so sweet as Herbie. My folks thought of him as another son and me another brother. We loved him so. What a great guy. My heart aches for his precious family. My prayers for you Kathy, Karla and Craig and families will not stop. Love and Hugs.🙏♥️
