Carol J. Kelsey's Obituary
Carol J. Kelsey, age 76, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019. She was born November 23, 1942 in Muskegon to Paul and Grace (McClellan) Carey Sr. On December 16, 1966, she married Joseph Kelsey in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2008. Carol had worked at the L.C. Walker Arena for 24 years prior to her retirement in 2014. She was proud of her Native American heritage and was an Elder of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. Carol was a great-granddaughter of Chief Distant Thunder and also a member of the Kateri Circle. She enjoyed going to Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs baseball games, traveling, and going to hockey games. She liked to be out doing things and was always on the go. SURVIVORS include her children: Brenda (Bruce) Kelsey and Joseph Kelsey Jr. both of Muskegon; 2 grandchildren: Angela and Jessica Kelsey; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and numerous sisters and brothers. A Celebration Visitation of Carol’s Life will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210.
