Carol V. Sharpe's Obituary
On Sunday, July 24th 2022, Carol Verne Sharpe was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born June 17, 1943, Carol is preceded in death by her parents Margaret (VanderWagen) & George VanderWerp, and her sister Phyllis Pastoor. She is survived by her brother Hank VanderWerp and Joyce, son Matthew Sharpe & Rebecca; grandchildren John, Makayla, Logan & Madison and daughter Ann Buist & Alexander and several nieces and nephews.
Known as “Frank” to many family members for her honest and opinionated personality, Carol could always be counted on to tell it like it is. She loved God, her family, music, animals, Bible Study and going to Traverse City for long weekends, wine tasting and enjoying the scenery. She could always be found at any piano nearby either playing a song by ear or making up her own on the spot.
She had many dogs through the years, and most recently cats, that she loved and spoiled to no end. When you saw rotisserie chicken in Mom’s fridge-it was not for you!
She loved to sing and played piano at church and for children’s choir for many years-saying that those songs always needed a little “jazzing up”. Somehow the way she played it always did sound the best.
Carol loved her sweets-most specifically Peanut Butter M & M’s, Oreo Double Stuff Cookies, and ice cream; and she wouldn’t turn down a nice piece of cake-though she only ate the frosting.
Carol instilled in her children a love of God, strength, and a sense of humor. She was always willing to listen and remind you who’s child you were-God’s and hers. She was generous and honest, and always wanted the best for her family.
A Memorial Service for Carol will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 30th 2022 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services located at 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442; 231-726-5210.
