Carol P. Voshel's Obituary
Carol P. Voshel, age 91, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. She was born September 21, 1924, to Hugh and Florence (Potterton) Shirlaw. Carol married Jack J. Voshel on December 15, 1945, in New Jersey. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2013.
Carol attended St. David’s Episcopal Church in Englewood, FL. She was a member of the Grand Haven and Grand Rapids Elks, former member of Highlands Country Club in Grand Rapids and Spring Lake Country Club. She also served as secretary for the Tri-Cities Little League for many years, and was on the Board of Directors for Alameda Isles in Englewood, FL. Carol also loved to swim and enjoyed going to the beach. She worked at Meijer as a secretary, retiring in 1986.
She is lovingly remembered by two daughters, Jill (Gene) Roberts of Spring Lake, Julie (Sherry Hanson) Voshel of Golden Valley, MN; two sons, Geoffrey (Betsy) Voshel of Chelsea, MI and John (Karen) Voshel of Herndon, Kentucky; five grandchildren: Sarah Vincent, Erin Porath, Meghan Roberts, Justin Voshel and Kathleen Butler; five great-grandchildren: Chance Jack Vincent, Payton Vincent, Jack Porath, Elizabeth Adair Collier, and soon to be baby “Butler”. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Hart; and step-father James Stansill.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2016, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
