Carol A. Thornton's Obituary
Mrs. Carol A. Thornton, age 56, was called home to the Lord, September 3, 2007 after a courageous battle with liver failure. Carol was born January 13, 1951 in Muskegon to Douglas and Martha Swenor. She was a creative artist who loved to send her friends the perfectly wrapped gift. Carol was an art teacher at the Quincy Public and Grand Rapids Public Schools. She was active in the Michigan Arts Council, volunteered on the Art Train, and received a grant to teach art to children at the Kentwood Library. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University and founding member of the “Sisty-Uglers”. On July 23, 1976, she married Richard “Rick” Thornton in Muskegon. Carol was a loving mother, wife, and devoted friend. She will be painfully missed. SURVIVORS include her husband, Rick; son, David Thornton; daughter, Annie Thornton; brother, Donald (Linda) Swenor; several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
