Carole A. Hodges' Obituary
Mrs. Carole A. Hodges, age 83, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 in Muskegon. She was born on June 7, 1938 in Ludington, MI to Hulbert and Anna Marie (Johnson) Larsen. Carole worked for Muskegon Public Schools for 8 years and Christian Care Nursing Home for 25 years prior to retiring. She belonged to the Danish Sisterhood, VFW #446 Women’s Auxiliary, Vikings Lodge #57 and the Royal Neighbors of America. Carole enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling, along with knitting many baby blankets for Bronson Hospital’s OB Unit, and baby hats for Mercy Hackley Hospital. On December 18, 1954, she married Edwin A. Hodges, Sr. and celebrated 56 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 10, 2011. SURVIVORS include three children, Bonita “Bonnie” Chaffee, James “Jim” Hodges and Dean (Lisa) Hodges; daughter-in-law, Carol Hodges; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren 2 great great grandson; brother, Edward Larsen; and sister, Joyce Padgett. Carole was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Edwin A. “Ed” Hodges, Jr. in 2019; sister, Bonita Larsen; and brother, Peter Larsen. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Friday, October 15, 2021. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
