Chad Daniel DuShane's Obituary
Chad Daniel DuShane, age 26, of Spring Lake passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 8, 2008. He was born June 22, 1981, in Grand Rapids to Albert and Nina (Johns) DuShane.
Chad was a graduate of Spring Lake High School and a 2005 graduate of Grand Valley State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and business. He loved to golf and had earned awards for his accomplishments in tennis and soccer. Chad also enjoyed playing traveling soccer and was a member of the National Honor Society. Always a leader, Chad displayed patience when teaching others and had charisma that his friends and family so enjoyed. He was always prepared with a “comeback,” and he enjoyed finding a bargain. Chad was caring, nurturing, helpful, and loving, and he admired and followed his older brothers and their examples.
Chad is survived by his beloved fiancée, Kathleen Tyer of Fenton, MI; his parents, Al and Nina DuShane of Spring Lake; two brothers, Matt (Caren) DuShane of Spring Lake and Carl (Shannan) DuShane of Allendale; three nieces: Alexis, Claire, and Alivia; two nephews, Chase and Noah; his grandmother, Wanda Johns of Indiana; five aunts: Kathy S. Johns of Allendale, Julie (Roy) Leap of Indiana, Vicki Reynolds of Grand Haven, Jean Nolf of Allendale, and Kathy A. Johns of Indiana; six uncles: Roy (Mary Jo) Johns of Arizona, Russ (Wanda) Johns of Allendale, Todd Johns of Indiana, Richard (Jeanene) DuShane of Grand Haven, Frank DuShane of Grand Haven, and Lee Reynolds of Pennsylvania; and his future mother- and father-in-law, Craig and Susan Tyer of Houghton Lake, MI. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arlen E. Johns; grandparents Carl and Grace DuShane; and his aunt, Blanche Wood.
The funeral liturgy for Chad will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with Rev. Leonard Sudlik as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Chad may be directed to the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan or the Spring Lake High School Athletic Department.
