Charles A. "Chuck" Kozal's Obituary
Mr. Charles A. “Chuck” Kozal, age 85, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2005 at his home. He was born April 6, 1920 in Grand Rapids, MI to Frank and Belle (Karp) Kozal and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry and served during WWII. On December 22, 1944, he married the former Dorothy “Polly” Wilson in Starke, Florida. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an electrician for 43 years at CWC-Textron. He was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was also active at VFW Post 3437 and had volunteered for many years as a member of the Honor Guard for the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. He was a member of the 37th Division Association, Guadalcanal Campaign Division and also involved in Muskegon Civic Opera Association. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Polly Kozal of Norton Shores; 5 children, Chuck (Margaret) Kozal, Jr. of Roosevelt Park, Betty Kurtz of Roosevelt Park, Bill Kozal of Norton Shores, Deb Kozal of Kalamazoo, Flo (Mike) Predko of Norton Shores; 6 grandchildren, Stasia, Allyson, Jayson, Jessica, Shaun, and Nick; 4 great-grandchildren, Sage, Chloe, Trinity, and Caleb; 1 brother, Dr. Richard (Betty) Kozal of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers, Larry, Harry, Ray, Frank and Gene Kozal. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding. ENTOMBMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum. VISITATION with Chuck’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM today at Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM this evening. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday.
