Charles M. Wilson's Obituary
Charles M. Wilson, age 91, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006, at a local care facility. He was born March 24, 1915, to Glen and Vivian (Long) Wilson in Sidney, Ohio; and he married Florence F. Meyer on December 25, 1939 in Holgate, Ohio.
Mr. Wilson moved here from Napoleon, OH, 10 years ago. He earned his bachelors degree from Ohio Northern University; and had been a director of vocal and instrumental music for schools in Rogers City, MI, Hamler and Malinta, OH; and also Liberty Center and Holgate, OH. His students have earned the highest ratings at state meets in both vocal and instrumental music. He was a former member, elder, and trustee at Napoleon First Presbyterian Church in Ohio. Mr. Wilson was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church and a member of the Liberty Woods Apartments Cooperative. His interests included fishing, gardening, watching sports, teaching and playing tennis. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the young great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Florence F. Wilson; two daughters, Susan (Larry) Dews of Spring Lake, MI, and Carol (Michael) Holm of Ferrysburg, MI; three grandchildren, Brien (Sara) Dews, Sherry (Joe) Schoemaker, Dawn (Jeff) Duthler; nine great-grandchildren, Wesley, Brandon, Elly, Kyle, Keagan, Audrey, Lindsey, Heather, Brady Charles. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Jackson.
The service for Mr. Wilson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake and on Thursday at church one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
