Charles W. "Bill" Cribbs' Obituary
Mr. Charles William “Bill” Cribbs, age 81, passed away unexpectedly in Michigan City, IN, on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Bill was born December 10, 1926 in Muskegon to Arthur and Margaret (Denhof) Cribbs. He served his Country in the US Army Infantry during WWll, spending time in Italy. Bill was a Member of the Algot-Johnson American Legion Post #69 in Whitehall. Mr. Cribbs was a summa cum laude graduate of Michigan State University. On December 14, 1985 he married the former Rita Darnell in Muskegon, and she survives him. Bill was retired from Johnson Technology, where he had been the Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Prior to that, he worked for the Howmet and Brunswick Corporations. Bill loved fishing on White lake and in local rivers and streams. He enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos in the area. Most of all, Bill especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and always enjoyed a good cigar. Charles William Cribbs is survived by his wife, Rita;3 sons, Brian Cribbs of Grand Haven , David (Michelle) Cribbs of West Linn, Oregon and Randy (Marsha)Darnell of Ortonville; 4 daughters, Laurel (Tim) Zwit of Whitehall, Shelley (Jim) McDonald of Rockford, Linda Darnell of Rockford, and Debbie (Brad) Schiller of Waterford; 13 grandchildren;2 brothers, Russell (Shirley) Cribbs of Norton Shores, and David (Jackie) Cribbs of North Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant twin sister; his half brother, Robert Davis; as well as his parents. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11AM Wednesday, May 14, 2008, With Rev Fr. VISITATION will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home. INTERMENT will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Montague with Full Military Rites Afforded by the Whitehall American Legion.
