Cheryl Lynn Clarke's Obituary
Cheryl L. Clarke, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Muskegon, MI. She was born to James Buchanan and Nancy (Lillmars) Nummerdor on January 17, 1959, in Muskegon, MI. Cheryl was an educator and worked for over 30 years in the Fruitport School District where she grew lifelong relationships with those she taught and came in contact with. On May 30, 1981, she married the love of her life, Russ Clarke, in Muskegon, MI. and raised a beautiful family together, creating memories for 45 years. Cheryl was an incredible mother, a wonderful grandmother and a devoted wife. Cheryl was also active in and dedicated to the community. She was proud to serve in several capacities, whether it be a "noon mom" at Beach School, holding many responsibilities for Beach Football at Pine Park, working concessions at the football field or creating events like the pumpkin contest and the daddy daughter dance. Cheryl retired from Fruitport schools where she was proud and humbled to have a unique impact on the lives of so many students and their families. As an avid Facebook poster, you probably felt you knew everything possible there was to know about Cheryl. From sharing her life as a Mimi to catching up with past students, this was yet another way for her to always stay in touch with the community she adored. Cheryl will have a lasting impact on many for a plethora of reasons, but rest assured, at the very least, anyone who was lucky enough to have known her, will never see a smiley face out in the world and not think of her. Cheryl was survived in death by her father: James Buchanan; stepmother: Joan Nummerdor; husband: Russ Clarke; children: Miranda (Anthony Velasquez) Clarke, Adam (Tiffany) Clarke, Dylan Clarke; grandchildren: Clarke Velasquez, Kennedy Clarke, Cole Clarke; brother: Michael Nummerdor and though not biologically related, her found family, the Keglovitz' and their extended family. She is preceded in death by her mother: Nancy Nummerdor; stepfather: Dan Nummerdor; sister: Rhonda Linderman and best friend: Sue Keglovitz. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM at The Event Center of Fricano Place, 1050 W. Western Ave. Ste 201 Muskegon, MI. 49441. In lieu of flowers, the family will be starting a memorial fund to honor their mother.
