Clara Grinwis' Obituary
Mrs. Clara Grinwis, age 98, passed away Tuesday morning, June 1, 2010, at a local nursing home. Clara was born July 27, 1911 in Muskegon to John and Susie (DeHaan) Kooi and was a life long resident. In 1930 she married Thomas J. Grinwis and he preceded her in death on May 23, 1994. Clara was a life time member of Unity Reformed Church, where she strengthened her faith and headed the funeral luncheon committee for 10 years. Clara enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping, and spending time with her family. She walked the Mackinaw Bridge every Labor Day for 15 years. Clara is survived by her 2 children, Ronald (Dorothy) Grinwis of Grant and Karen (Gerald) Conklin of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Thomas, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cheri; great grandson, Aaron; 7 brothers, 3 sisters; and her parents. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11AM Thursday, June 3, 2010 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231 798-1100 with Rev. Kyle DeYoung officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (10-11AM). Burial will be made in Restlawn Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Christian Care Nursing Center Activity Fund.
