Clara Teunis' Obituary
Clara Teunis, age 94, of Spring Lake, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 at North Ottawa Care Center.
Clara was born in Ellsworth, Michigan to John and Henrietta (Drenth) Tjapkes on September 21, 1917. She was married to George W. Teunis on September 24, 1936 in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2001.
Clara was a longtime member of First Christian Reformed Church in Grand Haven, and she never hesitated to talk to her family and those she met about her faith and love for her Lord, and how she enjoyed making all those baby blankets through the many years. Clara also enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, sewing, and quilting.
Clara is lovingly survived by her daughter, Beverly Blonk of Spring Lake; 3 sons: Stan (Pearlene) Teunis of Spring Lake, Milt (Alice) Teunis of Jamestown, MI, Glenn (Judy) Teunis of Bailey, MI; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 7 brothers.
A Funeral Service for Clara will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Rich Hamstra officiating. Friends may meet the family from 4-8 PM Tuesday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven and 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Clara may be given to First Christian Reformed Church or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
