Cornelius "Casey" DeGroot's Obituary
Mr. Cornelius “Casey” DeGroot, age 92, passed away Tuesday evening, May 31, 2011 in Fremont. He was born October 19, 1918 in Flander, SD, and lived in the Muskegon area for most of his life. He retired from Neway, and had also worked at the Norge. Mr. DeGroot was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. On October 25, 1941 he married Eva M. Burrell, and she preceded him in death on June 16, 1993. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Bill (Barb) DeGroot of Montague, Cecil (Harold) Brady of Benton Harbor, Bob (Donna) DeGroot of Oklahoma, Al (Sue) DeGroot of Norton Shores; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; 2 special nephews, John and Ryndert. He was also preceded in death by his parents Cornelius and Alice; 1 son, Earldean; 2 brothers, Ryndert and Gerritt; 2 sisters, Dora Moore and Gertrude Franks. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Grace Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Marvin Wassink officiating. VISITATION at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 will be from 5-8 PM Friday. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
