Mrs. Crystal Claire Holtrop's Obituary
Mrs. Crystal Claire Holtrop, age 93, passed away Friday morning, February 8, 2013. She was born June 29, 1919 in Mears, MI to Oscar and Mary (Hitchcock) Pearson. Mrs. Holtrop was a 1937 graduate of Hart High School. She worked 20 years for the State of Michigan with the Employment Security Commission before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church and the Sons of Norway, where she had been the financial secretary for 20 years. She also belonged to SERA (State Employees Retirement Association). Mrs. Holtrop was a very charitable person. She also loved gardening and working in the yard. In 1982, she married Melvin Holtrop in Muskegon and he preceded her in death in August of 1996. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Mary Olson; 2 step-children, Diana (Bob) Thomas, Melvin (Ginny) Holtrop; brother, Philip “Bud” (June) Pearson; nephew, Alfred Pearson; niece, Karen Pearson; and special family friends, Glenn and Julie Ray. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Norman Pearson. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark R. Erbes officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Mears Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Noah Project or Lake Harbor United Methodist Church will be appreciated.
