I remember Dan as one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing...and he is my cousin, which makes me feel all the more honored. One of my fondest memories of Dan....was when my Arizona family and I were visiting our Holton, Michigan family...in the winter. Linda, Cinda and Sherry and John, were going ice-skating at a nearby frozen pond. I think I was about 8...which means Dan was about 15. Most folks from Arizona do NOT learn how to ice-skate! Dan had to rescue me from myself....as I attempted to wander out onto the ice...and could not even Stand Up on them! Both of my feet just twisted inward! I never did THAT again! And decided that figure-skating would definitely not be a career choice! Dan skated over and took me to the "ground." I'm pretty sure John helped him get me there! The girls were just all laughing of course...but not AT me...just WITH me. (uh huh) I will miss this sweet, gentle soul...he is probably teaching the Angels how to NOT skate like DeeDee. My love to Linda and his children and grandchildren... to his other sweet siblings...and all those who loved him.
