Mr. Daniel L Barnard's Obituary
Daniel “Danny” L. Barnard, age 66, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a car accident on Thursday, March 17, 2016 in California. He was born on September 18, 1949 to Walter H. and Shirley E. (McGarry) Barnard in Frankfort, MI. Daniel graduated with honors from Holton High School in 1967. After high school he enrolled and attended Michigan State University. On July 27, 1968 he married the former Linda Faye Melville, and they spent 47 happy years together. After his marriage Daniel enlisted in United States Air Force and served proudly during the Vietnam War. Daniel spent over 40 years working as an electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 275. He was a member of the VFW #8846, the American Legion and AMVETS. Daniel’s passions in life were his family, traveling, hunting and carpentry. He is survived by his wife; children, Dana (Robert) Hayes, Matthew (Heather) Barnard, Erik (Heather) Barnard; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Steven (Sarah) Barnard, Brian (Karen) Barnard; sisters, Linda (Richard) Scheerer, Cinda (Richard) Frey, Sherrie Barnard; and mother-in-law, Ardis Melville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Barnard. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Daniel will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Don Rea VFW Post #8846 (1061 Witham Rd.) at 1:00 PM. VISITATION with the family will be held an hour prior to services at the post. For a more lasting memory the family asks you to look to either Twin Lake United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association for a contribution in Daniel’s name.
