I just want your family to know, that we share your loss. Dan was an amazing guy > I relish our chats and always looked forward to his next cutaway. I am astounded that he is gone. I hope the family will find some solace in the fact that Dan was well respected for his amazing talent and humble nature. He will be sorely missed.

Dan attended a number of shows down here in Kalamazoo, and even though he had not been here in a while, and we never met in person, it was great having a Facebook friend who was not just a fellow Michigander, and a fellow veteran, but one of the tiny handful of truly inspired and gifted Masters in our hobby. Our chats were inspirational, and made me want to push the envelope with my builds. His sense of humor paralleled my own, and had me in stitches more than a few times. He will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to you, his family, and hope that the love and respect the community had and continues to have for him will bring that much more warmth to your memories of him.

Dan's sense of humor went hand in hand along with my own. I'll always remember his "HAH!" when someone said something that cracked him up. I was amazed at his models in Fine Scale Modeler and to "meet" him, become his Facebook friend and interact with him about his models is a cherished honor to me. Good bye, Dan. You WILL be missed greatly!

He was always supportive, helpful and encouraging.
I was able to learn such a lot from him, knowledge he shared freely and with such grace.
I know it's 'only a hobby' but until our meeting, there will be a little of Dan in everything I build.

I'm from Germany and I'm very sad about the loss of Dan.
We were friends on FB, writing and for me he was and will be one of the greatest artists in fine scale modelling.
Last October we send each other via post real, small gifts and for me he remarks one of the greatest persons I could learn from.
Every time when we wrote - the distance beetween the US & Germany disappeared....and so I will now be close to Judy, Holly and the whole family with my condolences and my deep thoughts, like he was and will ever be.

I'm happy to gotten to know Dan. he was an awesome modeler with a great sense of humor.. his scratch builds were out of this world.. his work always made me feel like a kid on Christmas morning, his builds was and will always be a gift to the world.. even though his life has now ended his light will always remain, not just in his work with the many groups and his models but with his family and daughter Holly... may he forever rest peacfully and fly with the angels.. we miss you buddy
