What does one say when you lose a dear friend.
Darrel was a very big part of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28.
He will be very missed my all of the Legion Family.
He was always there to make sure everything was ready for every event at the Post. Coming in very earlier in the Morning checking on the building.
He was there for me 9 Years ago when I was going though my 2nd round of cancer. Always at the Legion at 8 AM after my 7 am treatments and we would talk.
Then 7 Years ago he would go up and stay with my wife Charlene during Chemo treatments so I could go do Military funerals.
What a GREAT man Darrel.
With a VERY BIG HEART.
I will miss our talks, But I will have lots of wonderful Memories.
RIP my friend

My condolences to the Myers family. I met Darrel at the YMCA and we worked out together for years with his buddy Steve. On a couple of Fridays, we would skip the workout and go to the Legion for a beer. Darrel was strong as an ox and had a heart of gold. I am a better man for having had him in my life.

I was honored to spend time with Darrel at the end of his life, and his courage, determination and strength of character were apparent always, traits obviously passed on to his wonderful daughters, Tricia and Traci. I will always remember you. Mary
Big D, you will be SO missed! I so badly wanted to be at your memorial, but unfortunately it’s on the Friday I will be out of town. I won’t be able to get out of it, because we’ve been planning it for a long time. I know you’d understand. I’m so happy that you are now pain free, and dancing in the sky! You’ve fought your fight, and you’ve won your race.
Thanks for being such a great person, and being the one person we could call at work when Steve was out of town. You were great!
Sending all my love and hugs to your family! I’ll see you again someday, and we’ll have Chili dogs and shakes!! Rest In Peace, big guy! ❤️ Love, Kristi
