David Ernest Pearson's Obituary
David Ernest Pearson, age 64, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born May 9, 1954, in Bay City to David Ernest and Bessie Margaret (Sarianides) Pearson, and married Leslie Kay Stoddard on October 13, 1979, in Addison, MI.
David graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1972, then graduated from Michigan State University, and received his master’s degree from Western Michigan University. He taught at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Porcupine, South Dakota from 1978-1982. David then taught Science at White Pines Middle School in Grand Haven from 1984 until his retirement in June 2012. He loved collecting antique photos, reading, doing crossword puzzles, rock collecting, fishing, morel hunting, and vacationing at the family cottage on Mullet Lake. David was a kind and caring person who loved seeing his students succeed.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Leslie Pearson of Spring Lake; son, David Benjamin Pearson of East Lansing; sister, Suzanne (Tom) McCann of Bay City; two brothers, Phillip (Martha) Pearson and Paul Pearson both of Marion, Indiana; and special friend, Monte Fries who supported David through his illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Byron Pearson.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at The Harbourfront Grand Hall 41 Washington Street, Grand Haven, MI 49417.
